The Custodial
Services unit of the Physical Plant Department is responsible
for providing a clean, sanitary and orderly environment throughout
the campus. 45 people within this unit spend their workweek cleaning
over 3,553 classrooms, offices, restrooms, stairwells and other
areas around the campus.
Routine
Service
Routine cleaning
is performed on a weekly schedule. Classrooms, restrooms and most
corridors are cleaned five times a week. Research laboratories
are cleaned three times a week. Offices are cleaned once a week.
The frequencies are based on campus priorities given the existing
resources.
Classrooms
The Physical
Plant Department places high priority on the care and maintenance
of the campus's approximately 135 classrooms. Classrooms are cleaned
five times a week and receive priority consideration for periodic
updating and improvements.
The Physical Plant Department does not maintain
responsibility for the assignment and scheduling of classroom
space. Such matters are handled by the Scheduling Office, ext.
5507. Please refer to "Space Allocations" for additional information.
Restrooms
Campus restrooms
are cleaned and stocked daily by Custodial Services personnel.
Any problems with restroom upkeep should be directed to Gabrial
Fernandez, Manager of Custodial
Services, ext. 5628.
